Fealia's Knitting - August 2014

Hello Everyone

I am back to talk about my knitting ;) I only have few weeks left in UK so I am a little bit knitting frenetically in order to have most of my projects done and easy to pack.  I don't know how everything will fit in my suitcase but well I guess it's something I will figure out when I will be really packing ^^

Oh and yes if you want to have a look at other picture or find the list of my projects, I am Elerinna on ravelry ;)

Finished Projects

- Cowl inspired by On My Wavelength by Heather Dixon. I don't have the pattern but well I figured something out and it looks quite like it ;) It was the first time I did a moebius cast on and I found it quite easy. I love the twist it creates. So I knitted it in Dyeabolical Yarns/Super Ego - Colorway : Café. I gave it to my friend I went to Brighton with; she loves it and so does her cat :P

- Faraway, so Close by Carina Spencer.

I really love this pattern and I wanted a shawl for me this time. I knitted it in Fivemoons/Luna plus 4ply - colorway : Rainbows at Sea. I bought this skein at UnwindBrighton and it appealed me because the colors are just gorgeous but I didn't really have a project in mind when I bought it. Finally I really think it turned out beautifully with this pattern. It is quite light to wear, I am currently wearing it in the morning when it is still a bit chill outside (UK weather :P)

  - French Cancan by Mademoiselle C. I knitted two of these, both are going to be gift.
First one in All For Love of Yarn/Luminosity Fingering - colorway : Luscious (if you remember in my previous post, I started to knit a Bryndis Shawl but I finally changed my mind), this one is going to be for my harp teacher.

Second one in Easyknits/Deeply Wicked - colorway : Solaris (yarn bought at UnwindBrighton), it's going to be a wedding gift for the bride obviously ^^ I won't attend the wedding for many reasons but I want my friend to know  that I am thinking of her. In Asia red is the color of luck and I think this colorway suits her, but maybe I am mistaken. I do hope she will love it.

- Dream in Color Shrug by Kay Dahlquist in Fyberspates/Rural Charm - colorway : Bluebell.
Easy to knit. I was the first time I knitted a shrug, there is some mistakes. BO not as loose as it should but I am thin and it's quite ok so I left it like that ^^ (I am a little lazy :P)

Current Projects

- Beekeeper Quilt
Steadily increasing my number of hexapuffs ;)

- Cowl inspired by On My Wavelength by Heather Dixon.
This time knitted for me in Fivemoons/Khonsu 4ply - colorway : Summer Smoothie (yarn bought at UnwindBrighton). I just love the colors ;) I wanted something to change from my usual color. I usually wear blue, green and black; I used to have a lot of pink clothes when I was younger (I know I am not that older but well you see my point ^^) because my mother used to bought me a lot of pink stuff and well I don't mind pink but I really do love every shades of blue ^^

Sleeping Project

- Winter Snood.
Still the same. I didn't touch this project since....well I don't really know. I love the pattern but the yarn provided by ChouetteKit is just awful, so i don't know when I will finish this project.

Future Projects

- Rotweinknoten by Tanja Osswald in Easyknits/Deeply Wicked - colorway : Deepest Depths (yarn bought at UnwindBrighton)

- Merewether by Sharon Boswell in Madeline Tosh/Tosh DK - colorway : Nebula

And to finish with August, a little give away. I have got 2 mini skeins (ca. 30 yards) of Koigu that I bought via Knitcrate Minis Grab Bag and I really don't like the colors.
So if you are interested in entering this give away :

Brighton

Hello everyone,
So I am back to talk about my little weekend in Brighton with a dear friend of mine. Oh God I got so much fun there. Rain was promised but actually the sun decided to show up; everything was a great experience and UnwindBrighton marketplace brought everything I desired.
I left Coventry Friday afternoon, my train was delayed and I thought I would never catch the 17.28 train to Brighton. I ran in the underground to do the change Euston-St Pancras where my friend was gently waiting for me to take the train and have a girls weekend with yarn, laugh and cheers.
I succeeded in arriving at St Pancras at 17.20....I was supposed to arrive at 16.50 something like that xD It felt a little bit awkward in the underground, especially because no one is running (phlegmatic British people :p) and finally I ran for nothing because the 17.28 was delayed as well ahahaha. The journey was fun, you take two friends that haven't seen each other for a while and you see the picture ^^

We booked a room in a small B&B in Portslade. The room was a little bit tiny but well it was only for sleeping.

Saturday morning, after eating a full English breakfast we took the bus to Brighton. We arrived before the opening hour of the marketplace, so we explored the city near Brighton Pier.

The marketplace wasn't that big but it was amazing, stunning, great, gorgeous things at every corner. I din't feel like taking pictures because I was a little struck and it didn't feel right at that time. I'm sure you can find many pictures on facebook, twitter or instagram.

We walked through the marketplace like 4 times, stopping at every stand, taking a look, having few chats with vendors. People were so lovely. It was really nice. I do hope there will be an UnwindBrighton 2015
I ended up buying a lot of yarn but well I am a yarn addict xD

Then after spending something like 3 hours in the marketplace, we left to explore the city and the sun was here. Have a sweet break :D :D

Brighton is a great city, really attractive and a bit crazy but the sea is nearby to sooth everything. I quite fell in love with this city.

Looking back I'd probably have take a class, I don't know which one but it would have been great to do so, I'd also go to the Seaside Shindig event but Undwind 2014 was a great experience anyway and I hope to see an Unwind 2015 ;)

Take care and keep knitting ;)

Fealia's Knitting - July 2014

Hello Everyone

So I am back here to talk about my knitting and about ChouetteKit n°11 bis. I don't have a July KnitCrate to share with you, because as I said in my previous post I didn't feel like subscribing while I am in UK; but do not worry I have subscribe to Indie Bi-Monthly and my first crate should arrive in France approximately when I will be back there, so in August 2014 ;)

So I ordered 2 ChouetteKit n°11 bis : Alizé and Zéphyr XL. (See their website) There was a mistake and when I receive my package, I didn't have a ball of yarn for the Alizé Kit, but they are going to send me one ;)
Basically what you have in a ChouetteKit is yarn, fabric, beads and other stuffs to do a lot of DIY things and a booklet with tutorials. Pictures here only show you the content of the ChouetteKit Zéphyr XL (you received three balls of yarn but I only take a picture of one), the content for the Alizé one is quite the same but as it is a normal kit, you have less supplies.
I haven't decided yet, what I am going to do with the yarn. I don't know if I will follow one of the ChouetteKit project or use the yarn for something else.
With the fabric I am planning to sew bags when I will have access to my sewing machine in France ^^
With the zips, I don't really know yet but it always handy to have some.
Finally the beads are probably going to sleep for a moment because I am not really into making jewelry right now, I got some moments but not now.
I love ChouetteKit for their ideas and I am planning to have fun using all the supplies even if it takes me some time ;)

This month, I received my order from Crimson Orchid Designs. The stitch markers are cute, lovely and I love them. The row counter is beautiful but I have a small wrist so I will have to change the wire length, but I can't wait to use it ;)

Finished Project

- Faraway, so Close shawl by Carina Spencer in Blue Moon Fiber/Targhee Worsted Colorway : Stalking the Wild Blueberries (MC) and Nyame (CC) (KnitCrate project, see my previous post)
I finally did buy the appropriate circular needle; a bundle were on sale on Meadow Yarn ^^ It was definitively a real joy to knit. I think  it turned out very beautifully. My flatmate told me she loved it and I think it suits her very well.

With the left over yarn, I did a tiny one for me. It is so cute. I have to wet blocked it and weave ends but well it is almost finished.

Work in Progress

See previous post to know how it started ^^

- Still have the Winter Snood from ChouetteKit n°9 but I have worked a little on this and so it is a bit longer ^^

- Bryndis Shawl. I didn't work on this project during the past couple of weeks so...

- Beekeeper's Quilt. Did some hexapuffs but not so much :P

That's it for July. I will be in Brighton this weekend for Unwind Brighton and will probably going to post about this festival, hopefully with lots of yarns, notions and stuffs.

Take care and keep knitting ;)

Fealia's Knitting - June 2014

Hey there ;)

Yes I know it is end of June but well I came up with this idea of blog only few days ago so....

So I'm writing to share my current projects, my yarn, my June KnitCrate and that's it but it's probably going to be enough ^^

I'm starting with my June KnitCrate. So KnitCrate is a subscriber program and they have a lot of stuff for knitters, it's just awesome. You should definitively take a look at their website, facebook, twitter, etc.  I'm not a subscriber yet because I thought I was only staying in UK for 6 months and I didn't want to subscribe in this time spent in Warwick. I've found out about KnitCrate around March and I just fell in love with what they are sending and I really love their program. But don't take my word for it, go take a look and see for yourself ;)
For June, Andrea and Joe (co-founders of KnitCrate) offered a try-KnitCrate and I ordered the Indie one plus the 10 minis add-on :D :D They are sending such a lovely package ;) I have a little anecdote about that package. As I've said previously I'm currently in University of Warwick and I live on campus, so I actually have to go to the Student PostRoom to retrieve big postage and so I went there and the person who handed me the package told me it was a nice package and asked me if it was my birthday. It wasn't my birthday but I kind of felt like it was.

Ok so what I got in this crate is:

The Yarn is from Blue Moon Fiber Arts, is Targhee Worsted (100% wool) with an exclusive colorway: Stalking the Wild Blueberries. and also some Nyame. The yardage is crazy, it is about 860 yard. I don't really like worsted yarn anymore but the colorway is just gorgeous, more purple than what I expected from the KnitCrate pictures but I think it will make a perfect gift (purple isn't really my color)
I have starting knitting and I didn't take a picture from the skeins but well you can see the colors :D (I usually make a ball of yarn to knit, it is easier and don't entangle ^^)
The Pattern is Faraway, So Close by Carina Spencer. It is really a nice pattern, you can find it on KnitCrate, Carina's website or on ravelry. I started to knit this pattern as soon as I got the KnitCrate and it is really easy and enjoyable.

The Fun Extra is stitch markers by Crimson Orchid Designs, they are cute and lovely. I love them and I actually ordered some with the promo code I received in the KnitCrate (you receive promo codes in your KnitCrate)
The Sweet Extra is a Handmaid Hand Cream by Soak, Aquae scent. I love the scent and I always ended up loosing my Hand Cream in my bags. It's the sort of thing you never have too much, in my opinion.
And finally the 10 minis from Blue Moon Fiber Arts, it is Sock That Rock (lightweight). Colors are just gorgeous, probably not colors that I would pick myself but well it will be great for my Beekeeper's quilt.
Pistachio - Backstabber - Purple Rain - Azure Malachite - Lemongrass - Highway 30 - Space Dust - Everyday Grey - Orchid Queen - Faulty Dyer

My projects

I've got like a hundred work in progress. I am like that, I start something and then I stumble on something that I found awesome and start this as well. So I got many projects but I am trying to keep the number to a minimum :P
  • I have got this Winter Snood. It is a crochet project.
The yarn and the pattern are from ChouetteKit, it is from the number 9 to be precise. ChouetteKit is a French "crate" with crochet, sewing and other projects. You can take a look at their website. What I love about ChouetteKit is more their ideas and projects than the supplies. To be honest I usual don't like the yarn they send, but well you receive a whole package. For some projects the yarn is ok but for this snood, the yarn is itchy and that's probably why it is a sleeping project. I finished one for my boyfriend and he loves it but said it was scratchy yarn.

  • I have got the Bryndis Shawl by Corrina Ferguson.
I am knitting this shawl in All For Love of Yarn - Luminosity Fingering, colorway: Luscious. I am knitting this shawl for my harp teacher. The color reminds me of her. And I hope to finish this project soon but we'll see :D

  • Then I have the KnitCrate project, so the Faraway, So Close shawl. I think it will be a great gift for one of my flatmates ;) It is supposed to be knit on circular needles and as I am staying in UK temporally I didn't bring all my needles, so I am knitting on straight needles and I think they are going to be too small for the entire shawl. I don't know if I am going to buy the 6 mm circular needle or wait until I get back to France.

  • Finally I have my Beekeeper's quilt project that I started 2 days ago, and it will probably take me a lot of time to finish but it will be worth it. I imagine this quilt in a house/flat of my own but I don't know what the future brings but we'll see ;D

So that's it for June. I've got bunch of unfinished projects and stuff in France but well I have said a lot today, so I am going to save that for when I go back to France. You can find me on ravelry but well I join recently and I find it a little bit challenging to fill up my projects there.
In July, I'll be going to Unwind Brighton and I can't wait. I am so excited about this festival. I probably going to buy a lot of yarn and I hope to have a lot of fun ;)

So take care of yourself and see you soon for others knitting/crochet projects, or Chemistry of whatever comes up in my mind :D
